WICKER – Material & Care Instructions

Congratulations on the purchase of your product!
These instructions will help you enjoy your handwoven garden furniture made from wicker (synthetic woven fibre) for years to come.

PROPERTIES OF WICKER

Wicker is a high-quality synthetic weave that is handwoven around a sturdy aluminium frame.
It combines traditional craftsmanship with the benefits of modern synthetic materials: it is weather-resistant, low-maintenance, colourfast, and comfortable to use.

Each piece of furniture is entirely handwoven, meaning that slight variations in the weaving pattern, strand thickness, or tension may occur. These subtle differences are not manufacturing defects, but rather evidence of the handcrafted nature and authenticity of every individual piece.

The wicker strands are made from UV-resistant polyethylene, providing excellent resistance to sunlight, moisture, and temperature fluctuations.

DO NOT

  • Do not clean with a pressure washer or steam cleaner.
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, bleach, chlorine, or solvents.
  • Do not place hot objects or burning materials (such as cigarettes) on the woven surface.
  • Do not cover the furniture for extended periods with a non-breathable cover, as this may cause condensation and mould growth.
  • Do not leave cushions or textiles wet on the woven surface for prolonged periods, as this may cause discolouration.

FIRST AID FOR ACCIDENTS

  • Dirt or dust? Remove loose dirt with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner fitted with a soft brush attachment.
  • Surface dirt? Clean with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
  • Grease stains or stubborn dirt? Use a soft sponge or cloth with a mild cleaner specifically designed for synthetic materials.
  • Loose wicker strands? Do not attempt to repair them yourself; contact your dealer for professional repair.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

To preserve the appearance and lifespan of your wicker garden furniture, we recommend the following:

  1. Regular cleaning:
Clean the furniture several times a year with lukewarm water and a soft brush. Avoid abrasive cleaners and pressure washers. Dry the furniture thoroughly after cleaning, especially around the woven joints.
  2. Protection against weather conditions:
Wicker is resistant to sun, rain, and frost, but prolonged exposure to extreme conditions may shorten its lifespan. Protect the furniture during winter or extended rainy periods with a breathable cover, or store it indoors.
  3. Maintaining the aluminium frame:
Inspect the aluminium frame beneath the woven surface from time to time. Clean it with water and a neutral soap solution, and dry it thoroughly to prevent corrosion.
  4. Prevent discolouration:
Avoid prolonged contact with sunscreen, oils, or acids, as these may cause permanent stains on the woven surface. Whenever possible, avoid placing the furniture in constant direct sunlight to minimise colour fading.
  5. Handcrafted characteristics:
Each piece of furniture is handwoven and therefore unique. Small differences in strand tension, weaving pattern, or texture are a natural result of craftsmanship and emphasise the authentic appearance of the product.
  6. General safety:
    • Regularly check the stability of the frame and all connections.
    • Only use the furniture for its intended purpose.
    • Avoid overloading or placing heavy objects on the woven surface.
